Pros The United States of America is a nation of immigrants. The historical influx of diverse populations has given our country its strength and vision. There should be no limit on American citizenship and civil rights. Restricting immigration will restrict the continued growth and health of America. Like human emotion, citizenship is not devalued through scarcity economics. The more America opens her arms to the "poor, the tired, and the hungry," the greater she becomes.
Cons There are limits; another name for uncontrolled growth is cancer. It simply is not within the realm of possibility to extend citizenship to everyone. The United States must be responsible and maintain the standard of living of its current citizens. Opening the flood gates of immigration would have negative economic effects on already over-stretched government budgets. America must take care of its own first.
